    Summer Storm Safety

    Fire Safety in the Home

    • Do Not Use Candles During Power Outages.
    • 36% of all house fires are started by unattended or abandoned candles.
    • When Using Portable Generators, do not use them indoors.
    • Only operate generators outdoors in well ventilated, dry area, away from air takes to the home and protected from direct exposure to rain.
    • Visit the National Fire Protection Association's website for further information (www.nfpa.org)

    When the Clouds are Approaching

    • Make sure that all children are accounted for.
    • Secure outdoor furniture.
    • Go indoors.
    • Stay away from objects that might conduct electricity (e.g. radiators, pipes, metal door frames)
    • Stay away from windows
    • Stay away from water -- do not take a bath or shower
    • Restrict all calls to cell phones.
