Earlier this morning, the fire department responded to the Oradell Borough Hall for an odor of smoke in the building. Initial investigation found light smoke through out the first floor. Upon checking the air conditioning equipment in the basement, a small fire was found inside one of these units and was quickly extinguished.
After the storms cleared early this morning, Oradell was left with minimal damage. The fire department did respond to River Dell High School where a tree was struck by lighting, fell, and knocked down an adjacent light pole.
Earlier today, Tower 21 was dispatched to the 300 block of Birchwood Road in New Milford for an oven fire. Tower 21, properly staffed with seven volunteer firefighters, arrived as the first due truck and assisted with ventilation operations.
Chief 20, Captain 202, Tower 21, and Engine 23 responded this morning as part of the working fire assignment to the 100 block of Kinderkamack Road in River Edge. The River Edge Fire Department, who was first on the scene, was able to extinguish the fire quickly while firefighters from Oradell’s Tower 21 helped ventilate the structure and open up walls to check for any fire spread.
Companies were dispatched to a garage fire in the 300 block of Oradell Avenue. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy smoke from a detached 2 car garage. Squad 22’s crew made entry from a side door and located the fire in a separate rear room and knocked down the fire. Assistance was provided by Paramus Ladder 1 FAST, New Milford Fire, River Edge Fire and New Milford Ambulance.
